Hip Flexor Tendinopathy

The hip flexor muscle group attaches to the front of your thigh via a tough tendon cord and helps lift your leg and knee The main hip flexor muscle group is called the Iliopsoas. A tendinopathy is a recurring injury or disease that affects a tendon that can cause tendon tears, tendinitis, or tendinosis. Overuse and repetitive stress from activities such as too much running or bicycling, or a traumatic injury such as a fall can cause hip flexor tendinopathy.

The Most Common Signs & Symptoms of Hip Flexor Tendinopathy

  • Pain and tenderness in the front of your hip
  • Worsening pain when bending the hip
  • Hip or groin area soreness to the touch 
  • Clicking or snapping sensation in hip flexor tendon during walking
